A 100₹ Note!

100rs note

" Hey brother, give some money for the donation for Orphanage", I asked to him.
"How much?",He asked reluctantly.
"At least 100₹ I am expecting from everyone.",I told him.
"100₹ ! this is too much.I can not give this much amount, sorry!",He answered.
With smiling face, I said OK and moved to next one.

Many times I have faced this situation. Whether it is the donation for 'Ganeshotsav', A 10-day festival of 'Lord of the people' a.k.a 'GANESHA' held in Maharashtra or many donations drives for various social activities participated by me. I have seen people pretending that this ' a single sheet of paper' values a lot. Is it really? how honest are we with ourselves?

  Valuating 100₹.

When I was small, when guests came to our house, while leaving, they used to give me a '10₹ note', a symbol of 'goodwill' considered in Indian Culture. Usually, the youngest child from the house would enjoy this 'most expected gift'. Nowadays, Guests have increased this 'goodwill' amount and at least give 100₹ to the child. Today, whenever I go outside with friends, my mother gives me at least 3-4 notes of 100₹ for the expenses. Even for the morning shows, movie tickets have to have prices more than 100₹. In cities, daily pocket money for a college going student is more than 100₹. When we go to the temple, our parents donate 100₹ so easily to 'the richest guy of the universe'. Cadbury, nowadays, becomes costlier than a 100₹ note. Currencies smaller than 100₹ are now limited to use in vegetable markets and buying commodities like pen, pencil, eraser etc. stationery items. Up to such extent, we have used this 100₹ note that it has become the basic unit of transaction. But when this note is asked for social festivals or social activities, people are unwilling to give it. Why, in a sudden, this note becomes valuable?

Evaluating 100₹.

In a month, on an average, there are 30 days. so to earn 100₹, we would have to save 100/30=3.33₹ per day. Is it really that much hard to save 3.33₹ per day? Of course not. If we decide to save 100₹ per month means 1200₹ per year, then we would have to save 1200/365=3.2876₹ per day, even lesser than the previous calculation. So where are we actually lagging? It has 2 reasons. First one is 'willingness to do' and the second one is 'how to save?'. 80% people are having the first problem and simply, this post can not do anything for these people. Those are having the second problem, here are some suggestions:

Earning 100₹.

  1. Avoiding a cold coffee, cold drinks few times in a month, can solve your problem.
  2. Using public transport or bicycle few times in a month instead of a private vehicle will not only save 100₹ but also help to maintain environmental health.
  3. Avoiding 3-4 dinner at hotels in a year can solve your problem for an entire year.
  4. On special occasions like Diwali, Birthday we buy the clothes. If we avoid buying clothes on these occasions, we can save enough money for that year.
  5. Not all movies are watchable. So, avoiding one movie in a month can solve your problem.
  6. Purchasing items online can save a good amount of money.

These are some of the methods I have mentioned here. You may have different ideas about saving 100₹. But the most important thing here is to 'save'. Because 'saving money is earning money'

  The magic of 100₹!

  • 100*12=1200₹ can fulfill the yearly fees of school going children up to 50-60%.
  • 1200₹ can help one to buy books, notebook and other related stationery for the school.
  • Higher Education Problem: In India, most of the people belong to middle class or lower middle-class category. As higher education is becoming costlier every day, poor children can't afford to pay fees of college. Many times they have to leave the education incomplete due to the financial crisis of their families. This 100₹ scheme can solve this problem up to a greater extent.

Let's take an example of Maharashtra. In Maharashtra,

The population of Maharashtra according to census 2011=11.23crore.
If all 11.23 crore people will give 100₹ per month then within a year, fund going to be raised=13,476 crore!
If 1 lakh is assumed as an annual fee of a college going student then, total no. of students those can get benefit=13,47,600!
According to AISHE(All India Survey on Higher Education)2011,
total no. of students enrolled in Maharashtra's colleges=15,73,091..!
It means, almost 86% students of Maharashtra colleges can be studied under this scheme free of cost!
Also, note that not every time the course fees are 1 lakh and not all students studying in Maharashtra, belong to Maharashtra! So, furthermore, more students can get benefit from this scheme.
If this fund is properly invested then, the problem of higher education fees can easily be solved by public only.
(Note: -Govt colleges have fewer fees. Also, various freeships and scholarships are provided to various categories' students. It is not considered in this calculation !!)

  • If a group of 10-12 people comes together and they implement this scheme, they can get almost 12k ₹ to use for various social activities. They even can adopt a student educationally.

These are some of the solutions I have put in front of you. If you decide, you can save and spend in various ways.

   Obstacles.

Though it seems easy; implementing this is not that much easy. People are not interested in compromising on their habits, luxury lives. We spend 30-40₹ unconsciously. People will not use 'piggy banks' just to save 100₹. Some may find it as 'childish' activity. With the age, people get stubborn so it is not easy to change them.

  Final Words...

The various obstacles I have mentioned above, are only because of one's perception. One has to overcome from its own obstruction. May be, you have to sacrifice for some habits but; the result you will get after doing some activities, at the end, is satisfactory. 100₹ is not that much big amount for those who are actually earning. But if you are not earning but you have the desire to do something new, you can save 100₹ per month easily. Saving 100₹ is more about patience and zeal.  The impact of this scheme is very huge and also it will help you to evolve as a better person. You can work individually or in a group but; the most important thing is to save the money.

So start saving 100₹. Who knows, 100₹ from you can change someone's future...!!
